Welcome back! Today’s blog is about another destination in Mexico. Cancun is a top vacation destination known for its warm weather and beautiful beaches. Because this city is a top pick for travel, it is pretty easy to discover the best resorts to stay at. So today I want to recommend an excursion that is a MUST for your trip.
This excursion was recommended to my family by the resort we stayed at which was the Riu Dunamar. The first part of the excursion was snorkeling. We arrived at the pickup destination and boarded a catamaran that took us out into the middle of the ocean to snorkel. In the center of the catamaran was a netted area. The netted area showcased the plants and animals underneath. On our way out someone in our group pointed out a baby shark swimming alongside the boat. Once at our destination, we followed a tour guide through the water as she introduced us to thousands of different fish and coral at the bottom of the ocean. We swam through multiple schools of fish so close you could reach out and touch them.
Once the snorkeling tour was over we all jumped off the catamaran and into the water where everyone just swam around. People could learn to paddle board as well. The catamaran crew handed out snacks and drinks as everyone hung out in the water.
After that, the catamaran dropped everyone off at the island Isla Mujeres which is a small island near Cancun. There are so many different places to explore on the island. Off of the docks is a beautiful little town that you can shop at and find countless handmade trinkets and gifts to bring back home. There are numerous restaurants that you can eat at as well. Within the downtown area, you can rent golf carts to cruise and explore the island. My family took the golf carts all the way to the Southernmost tip of the island to explore the Templo de Ixchel. The sight was breathtaking. The ruins of the temple sit on a cliff overlooking the beautiful blue and green waters of the Caribbean Sea. You can journey down the paths of the cliff and get closer to the water and admire the beautiful scenery. We were able to spot three huge sea turtles on our visit to the temple.
This excursion was by far the best one that I have been on. It was different from the typical excursion that you can choose from. I definitely recommend making this excursion a part of your vacation experience!
